As we made our way to PizzeRizzo for a quick lunch, we stumbled upon 50th anniversary statues of BB-8 and R2-D2. I’m not sure why they excluded C-3PO from the celebrations, but they’re some of my favorites from the collection of statues scattered about the parks. We proceeded to grab a table outside in the shade, and mobile ordered our food with ease and convenience. PizzeRizzo is nothing to sing home about, but the mini pizzas are decent, and they include side Caesar salads with your meal. However, Danny choose to add mac and cheese as a side for his pizza. I call this the lunch of champions.
Once we were done with lunch, it was off to Galaxy’s Edge for Rise of the Resistance. I noticed this time around that one of the major Kylo Ren scenes was different. I wasn’t aware of any alternative encounters in ROTR, and assumed that everyone who braved this attraction experienced the same scenes every time they rode it. Thus, the research commenced. During ROTR, you usually confront an animatronic of Kylo Ren that gets sucked into space when a hole is blasted into a wall. However, this time we watched a TIE Fighter attack scene take place through the windows. Then, Kylo appears in his own TIE Fighter to threaten us before he ultimately succumbs to a similar fate as his animatronic. I’ve learned that the scene we encountered was actually in B-Mode, which you will only experience if the animatronic is down. It was quite interesting to see, and now, I’m glad to know I wasn’t losing my mind lol.
We took IG hoe photos in Batuu since everyone was in Star Wars-themed Disneybounds. Well, everyone except Danny. In some ways, he did match me as our outfits were portraying two adorable aliens with big ears, but he was in the wrong universe with his Stitch outfit. We called it the ultimate crossover. I utilized my new mint sequin-clad dress from Blackmilk Clothing for my Grogu Disneybound along with the cutest plushie ears in the galaxy. I’m glad I’ve crossed this character off my long list of Star War bounds that I have yet to do. I’m also happy I can now sell this dress since it’s ill-fitting on me. I’m so tiny that my chest is too narrow for the dress. There’s extra fabric that points out from my armpit area, instead of laying flat and snug to the side of my chest. I had to tuck the extra fabric into the sides of my bra, so that the dress looked as though it fit normal on me. Story of my life.
Next ride was Smuggler’s Run. We tried to unlock “Chewie Mode,” but I don’t think we were successful. In “Chewie Mode,” the voice of Hondo Ohnaka is replaced by our beloved Wookiee. I’m predicting this would have been even more chaotic than it usually is. Smuggler’s Run is basically all of us screaming and frantically smashing buttons. I can’t imagine what it’s like trying to figure out what Chewie’s yelling at us in his Wookiee language.
After destroying the Millennium Falcon, we off to our reservation at Oga’s Cantina! I was really excited this trip because this was going to be Danny’s first visit to the watering hole. Oga’s Cantina is a tavern much like the infamous one you’ve seen in several Star Wars movies. You’ll be entertained with music courtesy of droid DJ R-3X, while you sip on an array of unique concoctions for all ages. I decided on the Hyperdrive (Punch It!) because I particularly don’t like alcoholic drinks, especially when I am out all day in Disney. I rather not chance giving myself a headache or make myself tipsy while out in Florida’s unpleasant heat and sun. This concoction is made of Powerade Mountain Berry Blast, white cranberry juice, black cherry purée, and Sprite. I love the look of this drink as the dark plum of the cranberry juice and black cherry purée clashes with the electric blue of the Powerade. It’s basically a sugary sports drink served in a cup full of crushed ice, and it’s delicious!
Danny ordered the Bespin Fizz based on its unique presentation. The menu outlines the contents of the drink as Bacardí Superior Rum, Yuzu purée, pomegranate juice, white cranberry juice, and a cloud swirl. The drink is served with dry ice to give a cool bubbling, smoky effect. Also, if you look closely, this cocktail is a cranberry-colored glittery swirl! If you know me, you know how I feel about glitter. Bespin Fizz is definitely for fans of fruity drinks that dangerously don’t taste of alcohol.
Danny was a fan of the unique coasters that you get at the bar. He asked our server for a fresh new one since the Bespin Fizz tends to spill over due to its bubbling. So in turn, our server threw a whole stack of all the free coasters you can get at the Cantina. It’s magical moments like these where cast members totally make your day, and you never forget about it. Danny wanted to return the same gratitude, and so, we went ahead and tripled our server’s 20% tip for being so awesome.
We left the Cantina to find a silent and broody Kylo Ren observing the crowd. It was our last moment in Batuu before we made our way into Toy Story land to ride the Alien Swirling Saucers. This was Danny’s first time on the attraction, and the only way I could describe it to him was a more violent version of the Tea Cups. The ride was violent indeed as I crashed into him while we were being thrashed about. I took some photos by the giant Buzz Lightyear and Woody statues as my outfit was more versatile this time around. Sadly, I didn’t get to ride Slinky Dog or Toy Story Mania.
I decided to test out Genie+ by purchasing a Lighting Lane pass to ride Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway with little wait time. I’m not a fan of paying for rides like this and ROTR. I wish they would just make these attractions virtual queues. Luckily, there’s only two of us and not a whole entire family to pay for. In the meantime, I switched into my more comfortable Grogu dress from Blackmilk Clothing as I didn’t want to deal with the sequins any longer. I also decided on a snack, and FINALLY remembered to get a Jack-Jack’s Num Num Cookie. It was a giant, warm cookie of delicious chocolatey goodness.
We took a stroll down Sunset boulevard, so that Danny could take a look at the Tower of Terror. On our last trip back in May, we didn’t even have enough time to explore this part of the park. I really wish I had the balls to ride the Tower of Tower just to see the theming of the attraction, but there is nothing I hate more than free falling. The older I get, the more I’m unwilling to give myself intense anxiety before going on a thrill ride. When I was younger, I just didn’t give a shit about my life and was willing to recklessly go on any coaster or thrill ride that I crossed paths with.
This walk down Sunset was dangerous though because I ended up in Pandora. I finally bought the Princess Leia charm I’ve been missing for my Star Wars bracelet. Unfortunately, Pandora chose violence, and added brand new Star Wars charms to their collection. So, just like Pokémon, I gotta catch them all. I went ahead, and decided to get the park exclusive Millennium Falcon. It’s for the memories though, right? LOL.
After making bad financial decisions at Pandora, we were off to Sci-fi Dine-In Theater. This was another reservation that I was ecstatic to book. Sci-fi Dine-In Theater is a '50s-style drive-in "theater,” where you are served all-American classics like burgers, fries and milkshakes in a car-shaped booth as you watch sci-fi movie clips. I absolutely love the quiet and relaxed ambience of this restaurant. While the food is fairly simple, the theming of this restaurant provides a unique atmosphere for a memorable dining experience.
We both throughly enjoyed the amusing clips of old sci-fi monster flicks. My favorite was the trailer for the 1958 film, Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. Essentially, a woman, who is turned into a giant by aliens, decides to get revenge on her cheating ass husband and his mistress or, as they liked to say back in the day, floozy. While we watched these hilarious sci-fi clips, I dined on the Classic American Burger. Danny opted for the Feature Film Burger of the day, which was a pull pork sandwich. Looking back now, I regret not getting the fried dill pickles. I have to eat them by myself since Danny is a hater of pickles, so I decided not to order them. Also, maybe one of these days, I’ll try the Warm Glazed Doughnut or the Homemade Sci-Fi Candy Bar for dessert.
Once we finished dinner, we were done for the night, and it was off to the Skyliner once again. I’m such an old person now. I wanted to head over to Epcot for it’s new fireworks show, Harmonious, but it didn’t start until 9:45 pm. Do I really want to be out that late? LMAO. It’s hard when you have to wake up early, on top of lacking sleep and energy from previous Disney days. I rather go to the parks later in the day, if I’m going to stay out longer in the park to catch fireworks. Danny is also no help because we are the same exact person. He always gives me, “I want to go, but I don’t want to go.” This has been me my whole life. Shoutout to everyone that wants to go do things while simultaneously wanting to stay home. LOL.
Overall, it was a pretty successful day in Hollywood Studios. I don’t feel nearly as disappointed as I did in May because we finally got to fill in some of the gaps for Danny this time around. Even thought we didn’t end the night with a bang, we still had so many magical experiences.
Next up, Magic Kingdom and Epcot… part two!
