Dyker Heights! 🎅🏻

This past weekend, I finally made the trip to Dyker Heights, a Brooklyn neighborhood famous for its extravagant Christmas decorations. I had been putting off getting ready to leave the house due to a wave of anxiety that seemed to hit me this month. However, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I would regret missing out on the holiday fun if I stayed in. With rain forecasted for the week ahead and colder temperatures expected later on, I decided to seize the day while the weather was still pleasant. I layered up to ensure I wouldn’t be too cold or warm while walking around.

Christmas in NYC 🎄

In between battling anxiety and hatred for everything and everyone, I left my house to get into the holiday spirit, even though my attitude was more Krampus than jolly.

Rolf’s NYC!

I finally had the chance to visit Rolfs, a festive German restaurant in NYC renowned for its enchanting Christmas atmosphere that draws large crowds during the holiday season. Funnily enough, my visit took place on the last weekend of September. I decided to fully embrace the opportunity by donning a Christmas outfit for the occasion, which made for some cute photos in an empty restaurant.

Only the Fox God Knows

Last concert of the season! I saw Babymetal this past week, and it was a great way to end the year. They had two shows in New York City at Terminal 5, and as you can imagine, every date sold out on this tour. This was my first show at Terminal 5. I mistakenly thought I saw The Pretty Reckless perform there about 12 years ago, but that was at Irving Plaza. I can never keep my NYC venues straight. Since it was a packed show, we had a bit of trouble finding a good spot. We started on the first balcony but eventually moved to the second balcony. Being super short can make it difficult for me to see over the balcony barrier, but I prefer that to being on the floor amidst the chaos. Unfortunately, Danny didn’t have a great spot to see the concert. Being the noble person he is, he wanted my brother-in-law and me to be able to see the concert since we are the real Babymetal fans.

Oh, There's an Empty Place in My Bones

I feel like I’ve put too much pressure on myself to enjoy fall this year, and I might be mentally and physically draining myself in the process. Usually, I need time to focus on myself. Leaving the house on a weekend can be stressful, and venturing out both days is exhausting. When I go out, I can only manage to be away for about 5 to 6 hours - girl, I cannot handle all-day activities. So, during the spooky season, I find myself battling internal conflicts. One part of me wants to go outside and experience the atmosphere and fun activities, while the other wants to stay home, read, write, or lazily watch a movie or show. I’m literally fighting real demons during the Halloween season. LOL.

Terrifier 3!

I'm sorry (not sorry) that my whole personality has been Terrifier 3 for the past year. I have to say how incredibly proud I am of Damien Leone. Terrifier 3 was number one at the box office, beating out Joker 2 in its first weekend in theaters! It was the battle of the clowns, and Art came out on top. I don't think you understand how crazy that is. An unrated independent slasher film is earning $18 million at the box office over big-budget studio films. This is an absolute win for the horror industry.

Stitch Popcorn Bucket!

I can't believe I finally got my hands on this! Disney has a knack for timing its releases in the most maddening way possible. They dropped the Halloween Stitch popcorn bucket right when I was at a low point with my interest in visiting the parks. Initially, it was introduced at Disneyland and on the Disney Cruise Line, before eventually making its way to Disney World for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. I honestly don’t understand why it took Disney so long to come out with a Stitch popcorn bucket to begin with! Sometimes I feel like Disney's sole purpose is to drive me crazy.

Art the Clown!

Danny surprised me with the Mezco Toyz Art the Clown figure for our anniversary, something I had been admiring for months but felt uncertain about purchasing. It's amusing to think that I hadn’t explicitly told him I wanted this particular doll. Perhaps my enthusiasm for Art the Clown made it an obvious choice for him. What do you think? LOL. There was even a moment when I nearly clicked the "buy" button myself last month.

Halloween 2024!

It's hard to believe how long it's been since I last donned a costume on Halloween—almost a decade, I think. The last time I fully embraced the holiday was when I cosplayed as Chucky, and as I sift through old photos, I can't help but appreciate the effort I put into that look. It may have been a while ago, but in my heart, I still believe that cosplay was a total slay. That said, I’ve definitely evolved in my skills and style over the years, so I’ve been itching to give my Chucky costume a modern twist. I often reminisce about how inspired I was by YouTubers like Glam & Gore (Mykie), who motivated me to explore various horror-themed cosplays throughout my cosplay journey.

Barbie, Eat Your Heart Out

My biggest missed opportunity was not taking photos with my life-size Chucky from NECA as Tiffany Valentine last Halloween, so here I am. I also found a rad photo studio only ten blocks from where I live, so I didn't have to look like a weirdo lugging my most prized possession to Queens. Queens is truly another dimension. I hope more photo studios pop up around Industry City because the location is so convenient!

Sleepy Hollow!

I finally visited Sleepy Hollow for the spooky season! Although I had been to the Tarrytown-Sleepy Hollow area while attending college in Westchester, I never thought much of it until it became a popular Halloween destination. My curiosity grew as I fell into the Instagram trap, as usual. There didn’t seem to be much to do, but escaping the concrete jungle to enjoy the fresh air and colorful fall foliage was enough to draw me there, even if just for a few hours.
