Disney Bachelorette!

We (bridesmaids) decided to plan a secret Bachelorette getaway to Disney amidst the whirlwind excitement of Christine’s approaching wedding. I know we’re predictable bitches, but Disney is only a three hour flight and you can have a relatively good time during a weekend trip. Also, we’re not the type of women that like to get blackout drunk while partying at a nightclub. Honestly, that’s my worst nightmare lol. Instead we opted for two full days of Disney shenanigans, especially since Christine hasn’t been to Disney in quite some time to experience the new additions to the parks.

Disneyland vs. Disney World

After visiting a few times now, I’ve concluded both the positives and negatives of Disneyland in comparison to Disney World. While Disney World will always be home to me, Disneyland possesses a charm that is unmatched!

Disneyland!

It’s been three long years since I’ve last visited Disneyland. In 2019, I had the psychotic idea of going to both Oogie Boogie Bash and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party in the same week, but hey, who can say they’ve been to both Disneyland AND Disney World in the span of 7 days? This time around I really wanted to spend an entire week at Disneyland to soak it all in and not feel like I was rushing to accomplish everything I set out to do during my time there. I don’t get to go to California as much as I would like, so I wanted to enjoy my time admiring Disneyland’s magic. Before each Disney trip, I usually write out a bucket list of Disney tasks I’m trying to accomplish before the end of my trip. It usually includes snacks I’m trying to stuff my face with, merchandise I want to throw my money at (for me, this usually involves Mickey ears 😅), and nighttime shows I want to attend.

Oogie Boogie Bash!

Last year, I had major fomo seeing Disneyland bring back their new Halloween party, Oogie Boogie Bash. It wasn’t long before I fell through another rabbit hole with the persistent need to attend OBB in 2022. I was lucky enough to have experienced Oogie Boogie Bash back in 2019 when it was introduced as a replacement for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party. It quickly became my favorite Disney holiday party, and I have always anticipated bringing Danny to this magical event. Needless to say, I began making plans to finally make the trek back to California for my third visit to Disneyland. I was even more excited this time around because Danny’s never been to a proper Disney Halloween party due to the pandemic, and it would be his very first time visiting the Disneyland Resort!

Birthday in Disney!

This is so late, but I haven’t had much motivation to write and I’ve been super exhausted since the first quarter of the year is busy season at my job. Believe it or not, but I’ve been trying to finish this blog post since February LOL. I just haven’t had the energy and focus to put my thoughts into words in a timely manner. So yeah, my birthday was three months ago and I’m just NOW telling you about my experience… better late than never!

Disney Christmas… Hollywood Studios!

We started off the day right with Chef Mickey’s at the Contemporary Resort. I was very excited to snag this reservation because I really wanted to enjoy breakfast with Danny now that the characters were back. Mickey and friends were as adorable as ever in their chef outfits! I love the sassy attitude Donald had this morning. He’s slowly, but surely, becoming one of my favorite characters in the parks.

Disney Christmas… Epcot!

I finally managed to squeeze Disney Springs into a Christmas Disney vacation. I was able to snag a reservation for T-Rex during brunch time, which has been on my bucket list for a while now. I know the food is nothing special and can be classified as “childish,” but I’m in Disney and I like dinosaurs. I wanted to have the T-Rex experience, and luckily, Danny was just as excited as I was. This is how I know we’re soulmates.

Disney Christmas… Very Merriest!

Landing in Orlando’s airport was a little different this time around since we no longer had the convenience of taking Disney’s Magical Express to our hotel. Staying at a Disney resort wasn’t an option for us during this trip as there were no rooms available at any of Disney’s value resorts, which I imagine is due to both the 50th Anniversary and the Christmas season. In hindsight, leaving the airport during rush hour isn’t the best of ideas. The Uber fare was more than double the cost of a normal trip from the airport to a Disney property. This didn’t even include the booking fee, MCO airport surcharge, and the tip for the driver. Wtf.

Disney Halloween… The Finale!

We started off the day at my favorite breakfast spot… ‘Ohana! ‘Ohana is a restaurant that offers a Polynesian-inspired, family-style breakfast. Usually breakfast at ‘Ohana is a character dining experience, which includes my favorite lovable blue alien, Stitch, along with Lilo, Mickey, and Pluto. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing pandemic, characters have yet to return to ‘Ohana. I’m just grateful this restaurant re-opened this past summer as it had been closed for over a year.

Disney Halloween… Part 3!

We started off the day by taking the Skyliner from Art of Animation to Hollywood Studios. When we made our transfer to the Hollywood line, I FINALLY got a Stitch gondola to ride in. Dreams do come true. Once we stepped foot into the park, we were greeted by an adorable Donald Duck waving from a balcony on Hollywood Boulevard.

Disney Halloween… Part 2!

Our day in Epcot began with a ride on Remy’s Ratatouille’s Adventure! We were able to grab a time on the virtual queue for Disney’s latest attraction. Although, I still have yet to watch Ratatouille, I thought the ride was really cute and endearing. Contrary to popular belief, I am only a tier 2 Disney adult. I am absolutely terrible at watching Disney films, and most times, I don’t really have the desire to. I spend most of my time watching horror movies. Anyway, it was one of the first new experiences I’ve had with Danny so far. I’ve been going to Disney since I was a little kid, so there’s very little that I haven’t accomplished yet, short of going international.

Disney Halloween… Part 1!

The rain clouds of Orlando welcomed us with open arms as our plane descended from the misty, gray skies. Rain would be a constant threat to our vacation this whole week, which has been a rare occurance for me during my stays in both the Halloween and Christmas seasons. We followed our usual routine of picking up our baggage, and then making our way to Disney’s Magical Express. Once there, I saw the longest line I had ever seen in my life for transportation to the resorts. Usually, I am seated on a cozy bus and off to my resort within a few minutes. Not this time. I probably waited a half hour to simply make it to the queue for the Magical Express, and then proceeded to wait another half hour because there was yet another long line to board a bus for Pop Century and Art of Animation. I’m glad Disney could send me off on what was one of my last rides on the Magical Express with such ease lol.

I Can Show You the World... Hollywood Studios/Epcot!

This day started out with Chinh and I waking up at 7am to try for Rise of the Resistance boarding passes. Naturally, they were gone in a blink of an eye, and so I woke up early for nothing. I don’t understand how people snatch them up so fast?! At least, this time, we didn’t have to physically be inside the park during our attempt at passes. I don’t want to endure anymore 4am wake up calls for Hollywood Studios lol.

I Can Show You the World... Magic Kingdom!

We woke up in our Lion King suite in Art of Animation to get ready for our day in Magic Kingdom. I'm really excited we got a Lion King suite because I've only ever stayed in the Little Mermaid rooms, and I wanted to experience something different in AoA. Not to mention, Lion King is one of my favorite Disney films ever. Although, one of my biggest disappointments on this vacation is that Danny didn't get to see the resort at all because we were rushing to get to the parks early in the morning, and we were too dead when we returned from the parks at night. He barely saw any of the Lion King statues, along with seeing nothing in the Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo or Cars sections of the hotel. I didn't even get to take the Skyliner from my own resort! Luckily, we are going back to AoA in October, and we can dedicate proper time to exploring and filming the resort.
