• Back when I was young, I was reckless and didn’t consider most situations seriously. Rollercoasters are increasingly scary to me now, especially when I used to LOVE amusement parks for the thrill rides. As a kid, I loved swimming and water parks, but now they seem super gross. I used to venture into NYC by myself, but now I'm convinced I'll get kidnapped or assaulted if I'm alone. The older I get, the more I fear for my life.
• Speaking of fear, I almost canceled my nose piercing appointment at The End is Near because I'm a bitchass. I’m scared of getting an infection and having to deal with the healing process because it is more tricky than ear piercings. I must be cautious with makeup and skincare for at least 6 - 10 weeks. I am honestly thankful for my social anxiety because since I couldn’t cancel the appointment online, I wasn’t about to call the salon. So I just told myself to suck it up and get my nose pierced. LOL. In reality, it wasn’t that bad. The piercing process was speedy, and I only really had to deal with pain for the night. It’s annoying but not unbearable. Now, at this moment, it only hurts if I clean it or accidentally touch my nose a certain way because I forget I have a piercing again. My goal is to not put makeup on until Slipknot’s MSG show, which has been easy since Danny had wrestling shows to attend these past two weekends, and I don’t like this unrelenting heat.
• I'm really struggling with the second season of House of the Dragon. At some points, I wanted to quit watching. LOL. I’m pissed that Game of Thrones was cut short because of “money” just do this. We could have gotten two more seasons of GoT to flesh out the story better.
• I've cut my ties with sugary soda. I'm a Dr. Pepper Zero and Cherry Pepsi Zero girlie now. Thank you.
• I watched Longlegs recently in theaters. I'm confused with people mentioning how overhyped this movie was. Do people really believe in exaggerated marketing tactics? As a seasoned horror fan, when I read, “This is the scariest movie of the year,” I laugh because I know 99% of horror doesn't scare me. You’d think regular horror fans would be realistic when they see these taglines. Early reviews and movie marketing should be taken with a grain of salt. When I see a movie I'm interested in, I do my best to ignore reviews, future trailers, all marketing ploys… I mean, I even ignored the movie posters for Longlegs, LOL. You’ll have a better experience if you go into the movie theater blind. They quite literally had me at Nicolas Cage and horror films because I stan this era of his career. And remember, horror is subjective. What scares one person may not scare another. Horror can manifest in many different types of emotions. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
• I decided to rewatch shows from my past. I started with One Tree Hill, and somehow, I’ve sped up to season SIX already. I forgot how traumatizing One Tree Hill is, but I’m addicted again like I’m back in high school. It’s diabolic.
One night, I told myself, "Let me watch an episode of One Tree Hill after a long day of work…” Oh, my f*cking God… KEITH DIES IN SEASON 3! How could I have thought he lives happily ever after with Karen and Lucas when I’ve seen this episode before?! My memory sucks. I think I actively blocked out the trauma of that season, and that is why I don't remember. 🙃
So, don't mind me. I’m just re-traumatizing myself by rewatching One Tree Hill for the first time. 🫠ðŸ˜ðŸ¤¬ðŸ¤¯ðŸ«¡ I think I'll do Gossip Girl next. Its less tramaziting.
I still have four more seasons of One Tree Hill. I think these are the seasons when I stopped watching. It was harder to watch once the cast moved on to adulthood since Peyton and Lucas left in season 6.
Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton, and Bethany Joy have a podcast rewatching One Tree Hill, which I must listen to. It’d be fun to get their perspective on the show now that they’re older. Also, how does Sophia look like she’s never aged a day??
• I still can’t decide if I like Riley Sager’s books, but I keep listening to them because I like popcorn thrillers… Anyway, I just got so excited hearing Santino Fontana narrate Sager’s new novel, Middle of the Night! He voices all the You audiobooks and sounds just like Penn Badgley. I think Middle of the Night will rank high, but I haven’t finished yet.
My current ranking of Riley Sager books:
1. The Last Time I Lied
2. The Only One Left
3. Across the Lake
4. Final Girls
5. Lock Every Door
6. Survive the Night
7. Home Before Dark
