I Can Show You the World... Hollywood Studios/Epcot!

This day started out with Chinh and I waking up at 7am to try for Rise of the Resistance boarding passes. Naturally, they were gone in a blink of an eye, and so I woke up early for nothing. I don’t understand how people snatch them up so fast?! At least, this time, we didn’t have to physically be inside the park during our attempt at passes. I don’t want to endure anymore 4am wake up calls for Hollywood Studios lol.

Firstly, we ate brunch at one of my favorite Disney restaurants, 50’s Prime Time Cafe! I love walking into the dining area, and feeling as though you have transported back in time. Once you are seated, you feel as though you’re dining in a retro 1950’s kitchen with TV’s all around, broadcasting black and white clips of old sitcoms. I warned Danny beforehand to keep his elbows off the table and his phone in his pocket, otherwise the waiters were not going to be very happy lol. I’m always scared of getting scolded while eating there, but I love the food. The dishes are simple, yet delicious. They taste like the classic homemade dinners your mom makes for you at home. I settled on the pot roast, while Danny went for the famous fried chicken. Again, I choose this restaurant specifically because I knew they had mashed potatoes to make Danny happy, and happy he was. For dessert, they served up a gooey chocolate brownie.

After brunch, we made our way to Toy Story Land to ride Slinky dog and Toy Story Mania. In between rides, we were finally able to secure our boarding passes for Rise of the Resistance. It's funny because right before 1pm rolled around, I looked around to find everyone designated to one spot of Toy Story Land so they could focus on getting passes for ROTR as well LOL. After being in the midst of Andy's toys and getting some cool slo-mo shots of Slinky Dog, we were off to Batuu. We first acquired our thermal dentonator Coke and Sprite bottles at the Black Spire Outpost. Chewie was nowhere to be found, but there were Stormtroppers out guarding Kylo Ren's TIE Echelon ship. Danny got nervous and embarrassed when  the Stormtroopers personally addressed him. I reassured him that they do this to everyone, and that I always want to runaway when they point me out while I'm trying to take photos of them lol. Eventually, the Sith Lord himself came out to joint the Stormtroopers. He was silent and moody as ever. I'm surprised he didn't attack Chinh or Danny for getting so close to take photos.

As we made our way over to the Millennium Falcon, Danny took some fire shots of me in Galaxy's Edge. I think it's really cute that he genuinely wants to take nice photos for me because he knows how happy it makes me. I appreciate him so much. For Smuggler's Run, there was finally 6 of us to ride this mission. Two pilots, two gunners, and two engineers. Chinh and I were engineers so we could film, and smash buttons at the same time. I'm not sure if that contributed to us fucking up the Millennium Falcon or not LOL. We all failed miserably. Our last rides of the day were ROTR and Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. Coincidently, these two are the newest rides to open in Hollywood Studios, and both utilize the new trackless ride technology. I can't wait to finally see the pre-show for the Runaway Railway as I've only experienced this ride during pandemic times.

Once we were finished with rides in Hollywood Studios, it was a rush to the Skyliner so that we could make it to our reservation at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop located at the Beach Club Resort on Disney's boardwalk. Thankfully, Danny doesn't hate the Skyliner, and we didn't get stuck on it. It stopped momentarily for a few minutes right before we were set to get into one of the gondolas, and all I could think was "oh no, not again." There have been several incidents of the Skyliner not working or gondolas crashing into each other. I'm really hoping Disney figures this out because it's currently the main form of transportation to Hollywood Studios and Epcot for several resorts in the area.

From the unpredictable boarding times for ROTR to having to transfer to the Skyliner to Epcot and walk all the way to the resort, we ended up being an hour late to our reservation. Luckily, we were able to be seated at the bar, but we missed out on the cute couple tables that seat two. The food at Beaches & Cream is nothing to sing home about. I got a grilled cheese with fries, while Danny opted for the burger. You really go to Beaches & Cream for dessert, especially their famous Kitchen Sink that includes scoops of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream, and mint chocolate chip with every topping imaginable. I was determined to share a classic Banana Split with Danny, so I made sure I had room for ice cream even after having brunch and dinner just hours a part that day.

We ended the day with Epcot. We got to experience several of the floral installations for the Flower and Garden festival this evening with my favorite being the pandas found in China. We made our way over to Spaceship Earth. The Disney app said the ride was temporarily unavailable, which was worrying to me since I wanted Danny to see Spaceship Earth before it closes for renovations. Epcot has never been my favorite Disney park, but I LOVE Spaceship Earth. The ride magically re-opened just as we arrived at the beginning of the queue. It was as if the Mouse was listening to me. I'm happy Danny got to experience this old, super outdated ride LOL. I honestly can't wait to see the results of a much needed makeover along with the exterior facelift it is suppose to get for the 50th anniversary. I'd love to see the giant ball lit up at night finally. We ended the night shopping. Danny was cute, and got me both a Stitch plush and the new donut Minnie ears that I wanted, but absolutely didn't need. I adore him so much. I feel bad because I feel like Danny saw only five minutes of Epcot that day. Next trip, I'm happy we have a full day here so he can soak everything in.

I have so many regrets regarding this day. Not only did Danny not fully experience Epcot, but we rushed through most of Hollywood Studios. As a Star Wars fan, he didn't really get to be fully immersed in Galaxy's Edge. I'm also bummed that I couldn't get reservations for Oga's Cantina. I would have loved for Danny to experience the atmosphere of the Cantina while I had my Blue Bantha. This also reminds me - I forgot to get Blue Milk! I forgot about all the snacks I wanted in Hollywood Studios. No Num Num Cookie! No Grogu Rice Krispie treat! No Wookie Cookie! I also realize now that Danny didn't even venture down Sunset Boulevard toward the Tower of Terror and the Aerosmith roller coaster.

I usually prefer dining reservations inside the parks (unless it's breakfast) rather than at Disney Springs or at Disney resorts, so I don't have to rush through my experience and I can just take my time to focus on the park for the whole day. This is probably why I'm not much of a park hopper enthusiast. Hopping to different parks throughout the day doesn't allow me to soak everything in. I like to focus on one park a day. Thankfully, Danny did ride most of the attractions in Hollywood Studios. For our next trip, we can accomplish everything we missed this time around. I'm also hoping for a reservation at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater in October. It's always impossible to acquire, and it makes me sad.

This was one of those days where I felt like I was failing Danny. I told him I would show him the World... but there is still so much Danny has yet to see. LOL, I know I'm absolutely ridiculous. I just wanted him to experience the magic, and breathe in the same Disney air that gives me such a high every time I’m there. I wanted to be in the happiest place on Earth with the person who makes me the happiest on Earth. Sometimes, I have to remind myself that 1. I'm psychotic and 2. I've been going to Disney World since I was four, and it took me several Disney trips to experience what I've gotten to see so far. I forget that I saw most of the new park additions and rides piece by piece. I got to take it all in one trip at a time. Poor Danny, he was probably overstimulated with Disney magic, seeing everything all at once for the VERY first time. Now, I'm running at the speed of light towards yet another Disney trip, with Danny in hand, come this October. Danny went from having never been to Disney to going twice this year because I'm a crazed Disney addict. Sometimes, I feel sorry that he has to put up with this LOL. I just hope he'll be less overwhelmed during our next trip to the Kingdom, which is less than 124 days away!
