Luckily, this monster arrived a month before celebrations in one piece from Waxwork Records. This box set holds 15 soundtracks for every Godzilla film from Japan’s Showa Era between 1954 and 1975. It is the ultimate collector’s item for a lover of both Godzilla and vinyl records like Danny. In fact, this is the first time the films’ soundtracks have ever been pressed onto vinyl records! This set is honestly stunning, from Robert Sammelin’s beautiful artwork of our favorite Kaiju and his famous foes to the 18 colored vinyl discs, which are stored in a heavyweight slipcase box. I’m glad I decided to have this monster shipped to Danny’s apartment instead of trying to lug this all the way from Long Island. You can tell from the details that a lot of love and care was put into creating this one of a kind set for Godzilla. I was glad to see how happy Danny was to have this in his collection. He was eyeing this for a while now, and I would catch him getting sad as he watched everyone post their sets on Instagram. I couldn’t spoil it and ruin the fun for him, but all I could think in my head was “don’t worry, you’ll be holding that baby in your hands soon enough!”
Since Danny is a man of simple tastes, his birthday consisted of pizza and Carvel ice cream cake. Danny told me that every year his brother Chris gets a custom ice cream cake of something that he loves. Well, little did he know, his cake this year would have his favorite lame lovey dovey photo of us from Disney. What’s funny is I didn’t even think to recommend this for Danny’s cake, it was actually Chris’ idea LOL. I love how we have friends and family from both sides that encourage this lameness, and are super supportive of our relationship. The cake was really cute though. I know it’s not as perfect as the Destoroyah (his favorite Godzilla villain) cake he got last year, which he literally didn’t eat and has kept frozen in the freezer still because it’s too precious to touch LOL. I told him he better eat this year’s cake. I forget how good a simple ice cream cake is with the marshmallow topping and chocolate crunchies in between.
His birthday weekend consisted of this year’s first Brooklyn Toy Con, where he had a table to sell his art. The convention was held at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, which has a stunning view of the city’s skyline from the top floor of the building. I can’t tell you the last con I attended, but I was very curious to see what it was like from an artist’s point of view being behind the table. I was there as Danny’s moral support, and to lure customers in with my cuteness. I’ve officially started my career as a professional booth babe for Successfully Failing. Although, I end up trying to steal the very art he is trying to sell. I also held down the table on my own from time to time, which terrified me. I’m hoping I can get better at this, and conquer my social anxieties because it’s bad energy for me to hope no one stops to talk to me when Danny’s not at the table LOL.
It was an interesting experience, and I’m glad I can be there to support Danny’s brand and his ultimate goals. I’m very excited for the Brooklyn Horror Con in October, which Danny will be boothing at as well. Unfortunately, it runs into the same weekend we leave for Disney. We’ll only be able to attend Saturday, while Chris holds it down for Sunday. I hope this convention has a good turnout because I would really love to see a horror con in New York finally.
Our last birthday adventure was dinner at Bowery Meat Company for both Christine and Danny, the Virgos of my life. I had to warn Danny that this dinner was going to be bougie. I mean, the mashed potatoes were called “whipped potato,” and the French fries were referred to as “crispy fingerling potatoes.” It’s a steakhouse though, so you really can’t go wrong here. We were originally supposed to have two ice cream cakes from Sundaes and Cones, but their freezer had a mishap and apparently, the original cakes melted LOL. They decided to tell us this information at the same time the cakes were supposed to be picked up. I don’t know why, but every birthday has a cake fiasco. Danny’s cake was remade in time, but a new cake for Christine had to be fetched from the bakery. Thankfully, everything worked out. Danny got this cute mini ice cream cake (although, I don’t think it was supposed to be that tiny LOL), consisting of cookies and cream, and cookie dough ice cream with mini Oreos on top. It was delicious.
I’m happy I was able to make this birthday special for Danny. He’s brought nothing, but sunshine into my life, which I’ve really needed. I’ll always be appreciative of everything he does for me big and small. It makes me really emotional thinking about how he always goes the extra mile to make me happy. I’ve never had that in a partner before. I honestly could not envision my life without him in it. My future is our future. This is why I’d do anything just to see him smile, and take any inch of stress and anxiety away. It’s why I’m always trying to show him the world. And lastly, it is why I’ll always be thankful for the day Danny was born into this world.
🥰🥰🥰🥰 I love you guys and so happy for you both.😭😭😭
