Halloweenversy

For our Halloweenversy (I just made that up), we decided to go out in our matching black and orange outfits for a cute movie date. Ironically, we didn't actually plan this outfit, it just organically came together. I had ordered a pair of Halloween skirts in hopes of sporting at least one festive outfit for this year. They just happened to match the jeans that Danny ordered from Hot Topic for his Mad Hatter costume. For the hat, a year ago, Danny gave me an extra pumpkin beanie he had from Blackcraft after he saw me showing off my evil pumpkin beret. Lastly, I ordered an orange Micheal Myers sweatshirt from Not Your Average Babe that I had fell in love with this past summer. Turns out, Danny wanted one too... so here we are with all the components for a perfect couple Halloween outfit.

We had been waiting for Last Night in Soho to finally make its debut on Halloween weekend, so it was only appropriate for us to actually visit the movie theater to watch this film. Last Night in Soho is a British psychological horror film directed by Edgar Wright and starring Thomasin McKenzie. The movie follows protagonist Ellie, an aspiring fashion designer, who embarks on a journey to London to make her dreams come true. She possesses what I would call a "sixth sense" that leads her down a frightening path as she starts to have visions of a young blonde women named Sandie, who had desires to be a famous singer decades before Ellie was even born. I actually really enjoyed this film. The execution of the movie wasn't perfect, but I thought the storyline was unique. It gave me Black Swan vibes as Sandie finds herself on a very dark path when all she had wanted was to pursue her dream of becoming a singer. I'm working on a list of "Good for Her" horror films (LOL), and this movie falls perfectly into that category. I'm surprised Danny was so interested in seeing this film because it seems more like something I would be intrigued by. I'm fascinated by anything that puts a dark twist on a story involving dancing, Broadway or showgirls. I loved Anya Taylor-Joy's rendition of "Downtown," and her whole aesthetic in this film from the makeup and hair to the wardrobe and shoes. I would definitely recommend checking this movie out.

After, the movies, we ventured off to a mural of Michael Myers that is coincidentally around Danny's neighborhood. It worked wonderfully with my Halloween outfit. We also finally made our way down to Industry City for food, and to see the all the Halloween decor before Mariah Carey comes to ruin the autumn season with Christmas bullshit. I'm not going to lie though, I hope they have fun, festive holiday decorations for when the time comes for me to be a Christmas hoe. Danny was cute, and spent time taking photos of me in front of both the haystack and pumpkin displays at Industry City, so I have some Halloween photos on my feed since I was slacking this year. We had a bite to eat at Burger Joint since Hometown Bar-B-Que was out of commission. The burger was subpar, and the fries reminded me of the stale potato sticks you get from In-N-Out Burger that they disguise as fries. I'm not sure why this place is recommended because on a scale of 1 to Shake Shack, it's a 0. Speaking of Shake Shack, I wish Sunset Park had one. I would even take a Smashburger. *Cries in Shackburgers and cheesy fries*

Overall, I had a cute Halloween date with my love! I can't wait to see what adventures we will go on for future Halloweenversies.
