We were nestled into a small, cozy table for two with a decent view of all the pre-historic creatures. The restaurant was fairly empty at this time, so were pretty much by ourselves in our section of the restaurant, which was nice. Every so often a “meteor shower” occurs during your stay, which I found fascinating. Danny decided to turn up early in the day, and got himself a “Category 5” cocktail, which was an electric yellow drink that had a citrus-y taste to it, devoid of alcohol. That is for sure, a dangerous combination.
I tried to have a light lunch since we had another reservation for the day, and so I ordered the Bronto burger. Jokes on me because when we received our meals, a double burger with fries was sitting on my plate waiting to be eaten. I hate double burgers… I can barely eat single burgers! Maybe, I should have known by the name BRONTO burger, but the menu did not warn me. Danny decided to take it a step further, and ordered the Megasaurus burger. I have no idea how many burger patties were on that one. Needless to say, I don’t think either one of us were able to finish our food.
After our lunch, we walked around a bit to see some of the highlights of the Christmas Tree Stroll. Some of my favorite trees on the stroll included The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Haunted Mansion, Moana and Coco! I got sidetracked along the way and found myself inside the Christmas store, where I spotted a Grogu Christmas stocking (excuse me?) and holiday sweater Mickey ears. It wasn’t long until a credit card was being swiped. Send help.
Once I took as many pictures as I could of Christmas trees, I boarded a bus to The Grand Floridian. Ironically, I had yet to step foot in this resort. Maybe, it’s because I’m still salty Hurricane Sandy ruined my affordable stay at the hotel with my best friends years ago and I’ll never see that opportunity again. I wanted to visit both the giant Christmas tree and gingerbread house assembled in the resort’s main lobby. The tree was gorgeous, and one of my favorites of the entire trip. The gingerbread house was stunning in real-life! I can’t really fathom that it’s made out of real gingerbread cookie. Once I got my fill of Christmas trees, we made our way to Epcot on the monorail.
Danny took some cute photos of me in front of Spaceship Earth as always. A nice stranger offered to take our photo in front of the foundation. Civilians aren’t great at taking photos, but I think they have some charm to them. Plus, it documents that we were actually there together because we’re horrible at taking selfies. Let’s take a moment of silence for all those friends who really be putting in the work to give you top tier photos on your vacations.
Danny finally went on The Seas with Nemo & Friends, which in reality isn’t a great ride but I like to explore the Aquarium inside and see what the dolphins are up to. Afterwards, we made our way over to The Land for our reservation at Garden Grill. This restaurant provides a character dining experience with Chip 'n' Dale and friends as you revolve around scenes from Living with the Land.
I had absolutely no idea the restaurant rotated! It was actually pretty cool. The characters greet guests from the second level of the restaurant, which has been closed off to diners for now. It’s sometimes hard to see the characters when they come around to your booth. Depending on where your sitting, they could be appearing behind you. I probably should have sat at the edge of the booth to avoid looking back every time Mickey or Chip ‘n’ Dale appeared to say hello, but I was being lazy.
Garden Grill provides a family-style meal consisting of garden salad, grilled beef with chimichurri, turkey breast with gravy, seasonal vegetables, herb stuffing, mashed potatoes, and macaroni & cheese. As this was my first dining experience at Garden Grill, I must say I really enjoyed the meal. It reminded me of the same Thanksgiving comfort foods that you feast on at Liberty Tree Tavern, which is my favorite restaurant in Disney World.
I decided to order a EARidescent Sip-a-bration with my meal, which is lemonade and fruity strawberry punch served in a souvenir 50th celebration cup with a surprise character head. The character dissolves in your drink once you drop it in, creating a glittery concoction. Unfortunately, I did that boomer thing where I thought I was recording when I dropped my Pluto into my drink. It was pretty anticlimactic though, so I guess not getting the action on video wasn’t a bad thing. I also had another boomer moment, and left my cup at the restaurant on accident! The drink is quite tasty and pretty to look at, but it’s not really worth the $10 you spend on it. The cup isn’t even that cute either, which is disappointing.
Once we were finished with our dessert of berry short cake, we decided to go on Living with the Land since it was finally nighttime. Living with the Land had a Christmas overlay this holiday season with decorations and Christmas lights. I loved it! Although, I had never seen such a long line for this attraction before in my life. Thankfully, the line goes fairly quickly.
This was also Danny’s first time on Living with the Land, so I think he’s experienced almost every attraction at Epcot with the exception of Mission: SPACE and Frozen Ever After. I avoid Mission: SPACE as I’m not interested in getting sick at Disney, and Frozen Ever After isn’t Danny’s cup of tea lol. Next time, we’ll work on Journey Into Imagination with Figment and The Three Caballeros. I’m curious to see if he’ll like Figment, and then maybe he can let me know why people waited six hours for a popcorn bucket.
Since nighttime was upon us, it meant I was going to sit myself in front of Spaceship Earth until I saw the holiday edition of its Beacon of Magic. I wasn’t moving until I saw the peppermints candy candy illumination. Afterwards, we grabbed a spot to watch Harmonious finally (which I keep calling Illuminations). I’m proud of myself for finally staying out late enough to watch it. Listen, I’m about to be 34. I’m getting old.. stop judging me.
Next up, Chef Mickey’s and Hollywood Studios!

I actually liked Harmonious, probably more so than Enchantment. I can’t stand these lame, cliché Disney songs like “You are the Magic,” that was written for Enchantment. I understand I’m a cynic though, who mostly listens to metal for inspiration lol. I try my best to tune out the songs mostly, and just watch the fireworks. If I’m going to be forced to listen to music during these nighttime shows than I prefer the nostalgia of old Disney movie songs that they use in Harmonious. Disneys fans would be disgusted with me, and my low expectations of fireworks shows. I’m hoping next time, we can secure a better spot for viewing both the projections and fireworks.
