Valentine's Dates ❤️

Danny and I went on a weekend of dates for Valentine’s Day. On Saturday, we saw Lisa Frankenstein at the Alamo. I’ve been waiting forever for this movie to come out! It is both strange and cute with total Tim Burton vibes. If you know me, you know I love the dark quirkiness of Burton’s films. I saw a lot of Letterbox reviews saying this film is in the same realm as Jennifer’s Body, but I don’t see it. Maybe, I just haven’t seen Jennifer’s Body enough. To me, it’s more Heathers meets Edward Scissorhands. Lisa Frankenstien was the perfect flick for Valentine’s Day. I can’t take sappy romantic films like The Notebook. I need weird horror comedies to fill my heart with joy for the holiday.

On Sunday, I booked a reservation for Oscar Wilde. The restaurant was decked out for both Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day. We asked to be seated in the Temptation room with all the stuff Teddy Bears. Lo and behold, the room was pretty much empty. It was a good choice to do our V-Day brunch on Superbowl Sunday. They also didn’t have club music blaring throughout the restaurant. Old-timey music was playing for Lover’s Day… thank God. I was able to talk to Danny without screaming. I normally do brunch at Lillie’s but they sadly didn’t have the cute Teddy Bear decorations. We went with our usual brunch option of chicken and waffles with mimosas.

Later on, we went over to the Brooklyn Promenade to see if there were any cute spots to take photos at. I’m disappointed in this month’s photos because I wanted cute Valentine-themed vibes but NYC had no interesting decorations this season. I was completely blank when it came to ideas, which I could blame on my work schedule this month. My brain isn’t processing much creativity right now lol. Industry City chose to do an installation for the Lunar New Year, which is understandable, but they were my last hope. Hopefully, I have better luck OR ideas next year. I wish Pier 17 did a Valentine’s Day arch or we could at least get the Love statue back. I’m manifesting for 2025. 🤞🏻

Overall, my Valentine’s week was fun. Danny treated me to the movies & and lunch, while I treated him to V-Day brunch. We also got cute heart-shaped pizzas from our local pizzeria. Danny took it a step further getting me Valentine’s donuts along with a giant Grogu pop-up and card from Lovpop and the Love from Godzilla book by Olivia Luchini. It’s funny because I almost bought this book myself. I don’t care if it’s for children, it’s super cute! I felt guilty because for weeks I was trying to find a good Godzilla Valentine’s gift for Danny, but I got frustrated and gave up. Before I knew it, Valentine’s Day was here and I had no gift. I don’t know why I insist on the Valentine’s gift being Godzilla-themed but I can’t let it go LOL. I did finally order something for Danny… although it might also be for myself. 😆 It unfortunately didn’t come in time for Valentine’s Day, but I’m still excited for when it arrives. It will always be a Godzilla Valentine for us!

  1. Oooooo I didn't know Industry City had a display! There's a bakery out by us that just opened last fall that has a cute Valentine's display I'm hoping to check out this week. Idk how long it's going to be displayed for but might be cute if you're ever on LI.
