It’s super cute when your partner embraces your unhealthy obsessions - mine being Gremlins. Danny accepts that I will watch both movies repeatedly night after night before I go to bed without judgement. He’s also willing to feed into the madness by buying me anything related to Gizmo (my first true love) and those mischievous little monsters.
I’m grateful to finally have someone I can connect with on so many levels. It’s refreshing to have a boyfriend that cares about the things you love and understands how important a simple movie can be to you. For me, I’m currently getting acquainted the most famous Kaiju in cinematic history because I know how much Danny cherishes this monster. I love his pure enthusiasm when he simply speaks about his NECA Godzilla figures. When I saw how happy it made him that I had added a new figure to his collection, I wanted to know more. I genuinely have this wild excitement in getting to explore the classic Japanese Godzilla films now. I love getting to transverse into new things that my boyfriend loves because it allows me a glimpse into that brilliant mind of his.
The most wild thing we found together was the Gremlins soundtrack on vinyl. The soundtrack was sold out on Mondo, and we had previously talked about this being something cool to have for Danny’s vinyl collection. The planets magically aligned, and we found the vinyl together at a small record shop in the city for cheaper than the resale prices we saw on eBay. Our connection is too strong for this to be coincidental. Not to mention, there was no hesitation in Danny’s mind that he was buying it. I’m certain we are going to move mountains together...
