I'm Happier Than Ever…

A year ago, everything changed. I freed myself of a heavy burden and now, I feel as light as a feather. I never anticipated how different my life would be in just 12 months time. I couldn’t have imagined being this happy. I wake up every day thankful, and most importantly, I wake up everyday to the love of my life.

I just want you to know that you don’t have to stay. I wish I realized that a long time ago. We’re always taught to make relationships work, and to not give up. That we have to keep trying. I’m here to tell you that you don’t. If you’re unhappy in your relationship and red flags are flailing in the wind, do not distrust your gut instinct and leave. You know in your heart when something is not right for you. Listen to it. Don’t waste your life trying to make something work that isn’t meant to. You cannot put a piece of a puzzle in a spot where it doesn’t belong, no matter how much you try. This rings especially true if the other person isn’t willing to give you what you need. You can say your peace, and whether they choose to hear you or not is on them. What’s not meant to be is simply not meant to be. 

You can’t force people to make you a priority. Some people don’t have the capacity to make you feel loved and appreciated. I often found myself daydreaming of the relationship I wish I had, not realizing that I could rightfully have the life I always wanted with the perfect person. Not all was lost. You only have one life, don’t waste it on people who don’t love you unconditionally. You need people in your life who support you in every aspect of your life. People who are truly proud of you. Don’t settle for someone who can’t take the time to listen and understand you. Someone who can’t make the time to learn what drives that spark in you, and what makes you most excited in life. Everything that makes you YOU. Don’t bother with people who can’t be bothered with you. 

 I look back a year ago, and I’m amazed at how much has changed. I’m in a much better place now. Cast out every single fear and doubt that causes you to stay. I remember feeling stagnant and unable to move forward in life because the person I was with was holding me back. We all deserve to grow, and follow the life path we desire, so don’t allow people to get in your way. I promise you, in the end, you’ll be thankful you took that leap of faith.
