Despite the atrocious heat and the insane UV index (I managed to not get burnt), it was a really fun weekend! We also lucked out and didn’t have to deal with any rain the entire time despite the threatening forecasts. I had been manifesting good weather for both Chrisitne’s Bachelorette weekend and Wedding day. I refused anything but sunny vibes… My bullying seemed to have worked lol. Christine and I flew into Orlando on a friday night, while our room was getting Bachelorette ready for our Bride-to-be. We were greeted with giant cutouts of both Christine and Diego’s heads as were getting picked up from the airport by Chinh and Esther. The cutouts were a great addition to the weekend, and made cameos at the wedding. We surprised Christine with a room full of balloons, snacks, and coordinated outfits/accessories for the weekend’s adventures.
We spent Saturday in Epcot and Magic Kingdom with the bride in a traditional white ensemble with rose gold Minnie ears and bridesmaids in princess disneybounds. To be extra, we all had sequin Minnie Loungefly backpacks, heart-shaped glasses and celebration pins to match. I chose Ariel because she’s my favorite Disney princess and I had the perfect outfit for her already. Also, there were major Ariel vibes in the air with The Little Mermaid opening in theaters just a few weeks prior. I completed my bound with Ariel Minnie ears and a shell bag that I got from Tokyo Disney because I always insist on having matching ears and bags despite the money I lose in the process. I found a cute pearl strap on Amazon to use for the shell bag and it ended up being the perfect touch to the outfit. We got so many complaints on our ensemble that day!
On Sunday, we spent the day at Hollywood Studios before heading back to the airport. We decided on the classic Minnie Mouse disneybounds, which I also had in my arsenal of Disney outfits thankfully. Hollywood Studios seemed to be broken on this day. The transport shuttle portion of Rise of the Resistance seemed to be out of order because we were led directly into the Star Destroyer hangar that displays the army of stormtroopers via the back way. Slinky Dog Dash also seemed to be having issues as the lightning lane was super long as we were getting on the queue. When we were ready to go on Toy Story Mania, that ride decided to break down too. Then, there was a wildly long wait for Roundup Rodeo BBQ because reservations were so backed up. They also ran out of CO2 for the soda machines at the restaurant, but I eventually did get my Coke. The MOST upsetting of all of this (for me at least LOL) was Oga’s Cantina not having all the fancy glasses and effects to their drinks. My Bespin Fizz had no fizz, glitter or dry ice! I have NO idea what was going on this day, but if I see this the next time I’m in the Cantina there will be hell to pay.
Highlights of our trip:
*This was my first time staying at Disney’s All Star Resorts! The Toy Story section of the resort is so adorable and their rooms have been newly renovated like Pop Century.
*We got to experience the International Flower & Garden Festival at Epcot and all of the insanely cute floral installations. I think Pooh Bear will always be my favorite. I rarely experience this festival because I hate the summer weather in Florida. Although, summer in NY has currently felt just as hellish.
*We rode Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind! This was my very first time… it was both terrifying and enthralling. I loved it! It might just be my new favorite ride at Epcot (behind Spaceship Earth of course).
*Pink Drinks each morning at Starbucks…
*Corn dog nuggies at Casey’s Corner!
* Finally got to see the Festival of Fantasy parade at Magic Kingdom again since seeing it back in early 2020 before the pandemic blew up the world. Good news, the Maleficent dragon still breathes fire!
*I discovered Sir Mickey’s in Magic Kingdom has Mickey and the Beanstalk displayed. Fun fact: I used to watch my VHS of Mickey and the Beanstalk all the time as a kid. That cartoon was scary and gave me such anxiety, but I loved it still. You can see where my love of horror movies comes into play.
*We booked a photoshoot through Disney’s Photopass for their Capture Your Moment experience on Main Street, U.S.A. and in front of Cinderella’s castle. They were gracious enough to grant us an extra hour with another photographer in Fantasyland free of charge. These are the magical Disney moments that I love! We got to shoot around Rapunzel’s Tower and The Little Mermaid ride to match with our outfits. Our second photographer was so excited to shoot us because she said we looked like a fun group. It pays to be this extra in life. She was amused at the everchanging poses we have in rotation while shooting lol. I imagine it can be rather boring and stale to shoot families because they just want the run of the mill type of photos.
*I FINALLY RODE TRON! One of my top rides in Magic Kingdom now!
*We had dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern, and a celebration cake for Christine.
*We watched Happily Ever After! I definitely miss this firework show, it’s been three years since I last saw it.
*I made horrible decisions as I usually do in Pandora at Hollywood Studios. I walked into the store to look at the Minnie ring Chinh has, only to discover they had new Star Wars charms. Star Wars will always be the death of me. I blacked out, walking out with three new Star Wars charms AND the Minnie ring. RIP my bank account.
*We came in contact with Kylo Ren several times, and he still scares me.
*We got to eat at the new Toy Story restaurant, Roundup Rodeo BBQ in Hollywood Studios! Every inch of this place, from wall to ceiling is covered in Toy Story. There was so much detail put into this restaurant, even the ceramic plates were made to look like paper plates! There are several moments during your dining experience where they shout “Andy is coming,” and us toys have to freeze in place. LOL I loved it. Also, the BBQ is delicious! For appetizers, you are served cheddar biscuits (so good!) and three different greens: tomato salad, romaine and kale salad, and a watermelon salad. Next up, you are served a platter of house-smoked meats: smoked ribs, beef brisket, fire-grilled pork sausage and BBQ chicken. You are allowed to pick four sides for the table. We decided on potato salad, fried pickles, campfire-roasted veggies and mac & cheese. For dessert, we basically ordered everything so we could have a cute picture. Your options are lemon and blueberry cheesecake, chocolate silk pie, apple pie, peach-strawberry pie and Cupcake à la Forky. Each dessert comes in a cute little jar, and is the perfect serving after a meal full of BBQ and tasty sides.
*We ended our trip with Aerosmith’s coaster. After all these years, the launch still scares the shit of me…
