The flower blooms have me stressed this year.
They were extra unpredictable this year. Earlier this week, it seemed probable that kwanzan cherry trees, the vibrant pink double-petal flowers, would be in peak bloom by the weekend. It's wild how cherry trees go from 0 to 100% in a matter of days, causing panic in me, wondering how I will see all the blooms with work in the way. I decided seeing the pink blooms at Brooklyn Botanical Garden was my priority.
I love it when the Cherry Walk and Cherry Esplanade are in bloom. It is a site to behold, especially for a pink lover like me. I favor the aesthetic and location of the garden over Central Park, even if there is a price to pay. I wish I could have seen the white cherry blossoms in Central Park, though. I'd have also loved to visit Roosevelt Island finally during flower season. One of these years, I will conquer flower blooms in April. Is it an art I have yet to learn or pure luck?
My original plan was to go to the garden on Monday, but I consistently forget that gardens in NYC are closed every Monday! Then, I was onto my plan to wake up at 6 am to be at the garden once it opened for some empty shots before the crowd rolled in. Danny was not pleased when l told him to get excited about cherry blossoms early in the morning. He wants to get up early for wrestling but not to take photos of me in the pink blooms while I boss him around and make him hold my stuff? Imao.
There was rain in the early morning, so by the time I got to BBG, there were crowds. However, l assumed more people would roll in as the temperatures warmed. I planned to leave by 2/3 pm, so I had time before seeing Abigail at the theaters. I spent my time wandering around the Cherry trees to get cute shots. Practicing my camera skills when I could. The crowds didn’t bother me. While empty garden shots are excellent, I feel like I have more life in me in these photos. Maybe it was the sun peeking through the trees, or I was just happier with myself. Overall, I’d say it was a successful spring day!
