NYBG… Daffodil Hill & Cherry Blossoms!

I finally found time to go to the New York Botanical Garden. It's a far trip from Brooklyn but surprisingly easy and less costly than other places. A one-way City ticket only costs $5. I’m so happy I made it back up there for spring blooms. My first visit was in autumn when they had a cute pumpkin display. I had only explored that small portion of the garden, but I made a full circle around the grounds this time. Initially, I had thought I missed the daffodils entirely because I went to explore Daffodil Valley first, not realizing Daffodil Valley and Daffodil Hill were not the same thing when I looked at the map for a second time.

Most of the flowers were dying in the valley, but we got some photos of a small patch in bloom. We proceeded to the Cherry collection, past the lonely Magnolia trees still alive and the lilacs that caught my attention. The cherry trees are beautiful but not as grand as the collection in Brooklyn. However, the Daffodil Hill at NYBG simply outdoes BBG. I've never seen so many daffodils! The hills were coated in a sea of cheerful yellow flowers, making my heart happy.

Ironically, the prettier cherry trees were located here in Daffodil Hill. Trees full of fluffy pink flowers were along the walkway. I probably should have started here first, but would I have gotten in all my steps or seen other parts of the garden had I looked at the map correctly? I'm just happy I was wrong and that I DID come here at the perfect time while daffodils and cherry blossoms were at their peak. After experiencing the magical fields of daffodils, I finally took my tired feet back to the train station to hydrate and feed myself. I sometimes don't know how I go about my days without lunch or a single drop of water, all in the name of seeking spring flowers.

After returning to Grand Central, we ate at Shake Shake, and I found Doughnut Plant in the dining concourse! I've been thinking of their carrot cake donut for weeks now. It was a pleasant surprise! I returned to Brooklyn with carrot cake and blueberry donuts in tow, happy and fulfilled. It was yet another successful day of seeing blooms this April!
