Cityside Pumpkin Patch πŸŽƒ

During a weekend in October, I decided to check out the Cityside Pumpkin Patch in Long Island City. I had seen this place advertised on my Instagram for a while, so I wanted to see if it lived up to the hype. The Summer Club, known for hosting seasonal pool parties on the rooftop of the Ravel Hotel, had been transformed into a full-fledged pumpkin patch featuring locally sourced pumpkins from upstate New York. This unique Halloween-themed rooftop experience offered a variety of activities, such as pumpkin smashing, scarecrow archery, and a pool filled with pumpkins. Additionally, they served fall-themed cocktails and treats, adding to the festive atmosphere.

I purchased a two-person general admission package for $36, which granted us access and included the opportunity to pick any pumpkin on display. The advertised activities were not part of the general admission and had to be purchased separately. Alternatively, there was an all-inclusive ticket available for $55, but as someone who was more captivated by the photo opportunities than the activities themselves, I didn’t care to pay the higher price. The rooftop, albeit offering picturesque views, felt quite cramped on a busy Saturday afternoon, and I couldn't help but feel that it was overpriced for its limited space. Despite the risks associated with visiting at this time, my dwindling PTO days left me with no choice, and I was determined to avoid a visit when it would be uncomfortably sunny.

Despite the bustling crowd, I captured some stunning photos, including the enchanting pumpkin pool, which was why I was there in the first place. Our photo session was halted when security reprimanded us for snapping pictures within the pumpkin pool, which, as it turns out, was against the rules. I had noticed others doing the same, so I thought it was okay. Monkey see, monkey do. LOL. The security guard, however, was understanding and allowed everyone to take their final shots before vacating the pool. I was grateful for the opportunity to snap several photos before bidding farewell to the magnificent display of pumpkins.

Following the photos, we decided to unwind and order some drinks. As I viewed the menu, my eyes lit up at the sight of caramel apples. My excitement was short-lived, however, as the apple arrived with a disappointingly meager amount of caramel. Disney would never. Although I should have spoken up about my disappointment, my social anxiety couldn’t be bothered.

I doubt I'll be revisiting the Cityside Pumpkin Patch. Long Island City feels like quite a trek for what the experience has to offer. I can't help but feel a bit sour about the caramel apple incident. LOL. Venturing into new fall activities does come with its share of uncertainties. I was particularly intrigued because there was a lack of reviews about the pumpkin patch, especially given that this is the second year the event has been running. Nonetheless, I cherish the photos we captured at the pumpkin patch, so I consider it a somewhat positive experience.
